I gave My back to those who strike Me, And My cheeks to those who pluck out the beard; I did not cover My face from humiliation and spitting.
Isaiah 50:6
It seems these days that our country is extremely divided. Toleration is a word that seems to be used by many, but yet they themselves are intolerant of others. I do believe there are some issues that the majority of Americans agree on. One of those being Cancer. Cancer does not discriminate against age, race, and/or ethnicity. I believe everyone knows someone that has had or has cancer and I believe we would all agree to support a cure for cancer.
The goal of No-Shave November is to grow awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free. Donate the money you typically spend on shaving and grooming to educate about cancer prevention, save lives, and aid those fighting the battle.
The rules of No-Shave November are simple: put down your razor for 30 days and donate your monthly hair-maintenance expenses to the cause. Strict dress-code at work? Don’t worry about it! We encourage the participation of any kind; grooming and trimming are perfectly acceptable.
If you missed No-Shave November 2019 start planning to participate in 2020.
Thus far Melinda has been very fortunate. During all the cancer treatment to date, she has not lost a lot of hair. I know many others that have not been. This year for the first time I participated in No-Shave November. We do not spend a lot on shaving and haircuts, so we doubled the amount and donated it to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Melinda and I both feel very strongly about supporting those organizations that help our children. The Shriners Hospitals for Children helped Melinda when she was a child.
I pray that regardless of your political or social views that you will find it in your heart to donate to organizations that help to fight cancer. Below are just a few for your consideration.
- St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
- MD Anderson – Let’s Fight Cancer Together
- American Cancer Society
- Cancer Research Institute
- National Brain Tumor Society

- Donate your time to an individual.
- Donate your hair.
- Donate your vehicle.
